Description

A drawback in which the step crosses. Standing on the left, spank the right foot back, drop the left heel, then step the right foot down crossed over the left. The next drawback, on the left foot, spanks out of that crossed position and uncrosses, so repetitions alternate crossing and uncrossing. Each drawback is three sounds, and the weight ends on the stepping foot.

Practice Tips

  • Spanking out of the crossed position is the hard part; keeping your knees bent gives the foot a little more room.
  • Stay level instead of leaning back, so the supporting heel doesn't drop early.
