Description

Drop one heel and then the other so close together that they make a single, slightly thickened sound, a flam. You play two heel taps but count them as one beat.

Practice Tips

  • The second heel usually lands too soon. Start with the first heel just above the floor and the second held higher, so they can't hit at the same moment.
  • Aim for the smallest gap you can still hear. The two heels should be audible but still sound like one beat, not two eighth notes.
