Description

The working foot does a shuffle (a forward brush and a backward spank, with no weight), then steps down on its ball just behind the other foot, and weight rocks straight back onto the other foot. It is four quick sounds, and you end with weight on the foot that did not shuffle, so the same foot is free to start again.

Practice Tips

  • At speed, don't let the brush turn into a smear along the floor. Lift the foot a little before and after the brush so each tap hits cleanly.
  • Keep the ball change small and under your body. A big step back makes the last two sounds uneven and pulls you off balance.
