Description

Standing on the left foot, riff the right foot (brush the ball forward, then scuff the heel). The left foot then pulls back, spanking the floor as it leaves it, the right heel digs while the left is in the air, and the left comes down on its ball. Five sounds, with the last three packed tightly in just before the beat; the brush can also be played as a touch.

Practice Tips

  • If the pull comes in late, start the pullback while the riff is still going.
  • If the dig lands early, lift the right foot higher before bringing its heel down.
