Description

Step onto the right foot, riff the left foot forward (the ball brushes the floor, then the heel strikes as the foot passes), then drop the right heel. Four sounds; the riffing foot takes no weight, so you stay on the right with the left free. The first sound can also be a hop or a leap, which gives the Hop Riff Heel and Leap Riff Heel versions.

Practice Tips

  • Keep the two riff sounds apart: press into the first one and bring the foot down at a steeper angle, so the heel doesn't land together with the ball.
  • Hold the heel of the standing foot until the riff is finished; it tends to drop at the same moment as the dig.
