LEARN HOW TO DO AN IRISH WITH A PULLBACK - TAP DANCE TUTORIAL · Janine's Tap Dance Studio

Description

An Irish where the hop becomes a single (one-foot) pullback. Shuffle the right foot, then spring off the left, spanking it back as it leaves the floor, and land on the left ball again. Then step forward onto the right. The pullback carries you a little backward, and the weight ends on the right foot, so the next one starts with the left.

Practice Tips

  • It's fine to let the pullback travel further back to get clear sounds. Just step the right foot forward by the same distance so you don't drift backward overall.
  • Finish the shuffle completely before you spring into the pullback; if you rush it, the spank and the pull blur into one sound.
